Boilers are one of the most critical assets in a production plant because they provide steam or hot water that is necessary for multiple downstream processes. They typically represent 30-50% of a plant’s total energy consumption.
In the process industry, we regularly come across boilers that have been in service for 25 to 50 years. While the pressure vessel may still be in good working condition, we frequently find that the burner, controls, and near-boiler ancillaries that are worn out, antiquated, or obsolete. This can cause a range of issues leading to frequent service calls and production downtime.
To address this common problem, CCI provides a number of cost-effective turnkey upgrades for existing boilers that can drastically increase safety, reliability, efficiency, and process control accuracy. Some examples of our boiler upgrades:
- Linkage-less Burner Management Systems (Parallel Positioning)
- Oxygen Trim (closed loop feedback combustion control)
- Variable frequency drives
- Complete burner replacements
- NOx emission reductions
- Modulating feedwater control
- Automatic blowdown systems
Boiler control upgrades provide the additional benefit of unlocking a vast range of digital I/O parameters that can be monitored and edited in real-time by plant DDC or SCADA systems.
